Our Vision

As our journey progresses we intend to increase the scale of the project so that we are able to deliver greater numbers of wheelchairs and mobility aids as well as providing skill sharing workshops for recipients and members of the local community.

Our ultimate objective is for Diam Rek to become fully self sufficient within Senegal. This means that only necessary bureaucracy take place outside of the country and by those not within the Senegalese Disability Community.

It is of the utmost importance that in the future the operation is able to run this way. This is because it is only members of the local Disability Community who can truly understand and decide on their needs and the most pragmatic methods of achieving them within Senegal.

This self sustaining model will provide opportunities to work and learn new skills and to develop confidence, independence and resilience.
